3 things I'm wating for from Google dev

Google Voice - Currently only available in the US and is in beta. It will bring VOIP to a new level. You would get your own Google phone number, free calls, SMS, cheap long distance rates and other free features that your telephone provider would normally charge.

Google Streets - Not available in Canada (yet). However, Google's Street mapping cars were spotted in Canada April 2009.... so it should arrive very soon. Until then, we'll have to hold off from walking INTO maps like Joey from Friends when they visited London.

Google Latitude - Not available on the iPhone (yet). Coming soon.

Honda Indy Toronto

Other than the closure of Lake Shore which caused a traffic nightmare in preparation for Toronto Honda Indy, I found the Budweiser truck parked at Yonge-Dundas Square.

A mobile bar with a rooftop patio and a football throwing game/machine. Awesome!

my new iPhone

After a long and careful thought, I finally got the new Apple iPhone 3GS.

It's white with 16 GB of illegal content.

So why did I cave-in and buy it?
I spend a lot of time commuting to/from work. In fact each day, I spend an average of 2.5 hours (round trip) on the GO Train. Most of my time is spent napping. For the times that I'm not napping, my time is wasted. I could be reading or researching on stock information or catching up on my emails.

A data plan was going to happen at some point. The bigger decision was the choice of Blackberry Bold vs iPhone 3GS.

So why iPhone 3GS and not BB Bold?

  1. iPhone has the better web browser. If I'm paying for an expensive data plan, I better get web content that works.
  2. iPhone has the faster web browser. The 'S' in 3GS stands for (processing) SPEED. Watch the YouTube comparison video. Notice the author is by BlackberryCool.
  3. iPhone 3GS has push-email.
  4. iPhone has 50 000 applications. There's a app for just about anything and most are free.
  5. iPhone is unlockabe. You can jailbreak the phone and get all your apps for free.
  6. iPhone 3GS has voice command, GPS, compass, leveler, copy-paste.... and of course an MP3 player
  7. Camera is 3 MP
  8. It's also a cell phone.

Oh... but you don't have Blackberry Messenger?
I know big corporations use it but seriously, how often would YOU use it? Who would you message? Your boss? If I need to send out a short message, I'll just SMS. I purchased a data plan, not a text messaging plan.

Things I don't like about the iPhone 3GS.
  1. The standard headphone/mic included with the phone is a piece of sheet. My Sony Ericsson's in-ear buds were a lot better.
  2. The battery is built-in to the device. Any replacements have to go to the Apple store.
  3. The camera has no flash/light.
  4. No radio!

The battle for smart phones will continue.
The Blackberry Tour 9630 has gone to Bell and Telus. This is the 3G model of the existing Blackberry Curve 8900.

Would I use a Blackberry?
Only for business.

Google Chrome OS

No pressure Microsoft (with a 97% market share dominance in the operating system market)...

Google is coming out with an operating system by 2010. (Google Chrome OS).

It should be be free because it uses Linux as the base engine.

Lets hope Windows 7 lives up to the expectations. It should be interesting.
